My old self died last summer
The new Hywel is imminent.
A warrior awakens from his slumber
And he is one fierce cunt.
Now, I am become Life,
That beacon of Hope,
Casting the Shadows of my Mind
I managed merely to survive
Henceforth I shall thrive.
The Invisible Academy
A Guide to Interpretation…
Hypersigil – A work of Art that alters the base nature of reality.
Rejuvenation – In classic Doctor Who the first occasion where The Doctor grew a new body was referred to as this, the concept of Regeneration not being developed until the 70s. In the Lungbarrow mythology Gallifreyans developed Regeneration as a response to the fact they had been cursed with sterility.
Hywel – Means “Eminent” probably because of this guy…
A warrior awakens from his slumber – There are many Celtic legends of great warriors asleep protecting their realm ready to return should they be needed such as Bendigeidfran’s severed head buried under “White Hill” in London or most famously that dux bellorum Arthur sleeping in the caves of Avalon awaiting our need.
cunt – The organ which nurtures life & replenishes itself through pain. I refuse to find this word vulgar or taboo & I take my lead from Germaine Greer.
Now, I am become Life is a paraphrase of what Oppenheimer claimed he said after exploding Trinity, the 1st Atomic bomb.
The quote was “Now, I am become Death, destroyer of worlds” which is famously said by the Hindu godess Kali.
Slayer of Raktabija
In Kāli’s most famous myth, Durga and her assistants, the Matrikas, wound the demon Raktabija, in various ways and with a variety of weapons in an attempt to destroy him. They soon find that they have worsened the situation for with every drop of blood that is spilt from Raktabija he reproduces a clone of himself. The battlefield becomes increasingly filled with his duplicates. Durga, in need of help, summons Kāli to combat the demons. It is said, in some versions, that Goddess Durga actually assumes the form of Goddess Kāli at this time.
It also refers to a poem by the Sufi mystic Jalal ad-Dīn Muhammad Rumi.
Admit It and Change Everything
Define and narrow me, you starve yourself of yourself.
Nail me down in a box of cold words, that box is your coffin.
I do not know who I am.
I am in astounded lucid confusion.
I am not a Christian, I am not a Jew, I am not a Zoroastrian,
And I am not even a Muslim.
I do not belong to the land, or to any known or unknown sea.
Nature cannot own or claim me, nor can heaven,
Nor can India, China, Bulgaria,
My birthplace is placelessness,
My sign to have and give no sign.
you say you see my mouth, ears, nose–they are not mine.
I am the life of life.
I am that cat, this stone, no one.
I have thrown quality away like an old dishrag,
I see and know all times and worlds,
As one, one, always one.
So what do I have to do to get you to admit who is speaking?
Admit it and change everything!
This is your own voice echoing off the walls of God.
Shadows – A reference to both my inclination towards depression and the tumours in my brain. In The Lord of the Rings J.R.R.Tolkien uses this to refer to the Enemy which is essentially a personification of despair. It also refers to Psalm 23:4 “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil”
Sakyamuni – My Invisibles name. We each choose our own and adopt its mantel.
Chaos Mage – Chaos Magic baby! “Magic, for me, is a working technology for exploring alternate realities, breaking down behavioral programs, coming to an understanding with Death and having a laugh,” Grant Morrison.
The Invisible Academy – Time-tossed freedom fighters in the secret worldwide struggle between the forces of liberation and anarchy on one hand, and authoritarianism and order on the other. Whose side are you on?
